Ruger Bisley Flattop 44 Spl frame size; different?
Hey gang!

Thinking of buying one of the Lipsey's Ruger Flattop Bisley's in 44 Special. Their out of 4-5/8" barrel sizes but have the 5-1/2" models in stock. Is the frame size different enough that it will or will not fit my Mernickle Field Model II holster. I think it will be too loose and would have to buy a new holster but I wanted to defer to your knowlege/expertise/experience.

Thanks,

Alan

Ruger has that gun placed under it's New Model Vaquero listings, Cat.# RNVB-445-SPL. I guess RNVB means Ruger New Vaquero Blackhawk. I have a New Model Vaquero AND a New Model Blackhawk and they fit in the same holster with no problem. That sure is a nice looking gun and I'm having trouble resisting buying one myself. I wonder if it has the same features as the New Model Vaquero: all steel, easily removable base pin, improved cylinder timing, etc. If it has the same features as the New Vaquero but in the old "flat top" configuration I guess I'll have to have one.

Then you'll have to have one, 'cause it's got all that. Mine is a little loose in BH or FA 83 holsters, but quite workable - no problem.

Well, that does it. Since I'm being forced to buy one of these fine collectable firearms I'll call Lipsey's tomorrow and place the order. Besides, after our "Dear Leaders" income tax changes go into effect in 2011 I would not be able to afford it.

FYI...called Lipsey's today to order. Was told the flat top 44's (#RURNVB-44-SPL) are sold out in all barrel lengths. More are expected but date unknown. Oh well, you snooze you lose.
