End-Shake
Picked up my second BFR. In handling it, I felt a clunk. Not major but something loose. That it my be the grip moving/shifting and finally tracked it down to an axial cylinder movement.

Cylinder gap/axial movement meas 0.0" - 0.0025. Yes,it can actually touch the forcing cone portion of the barrel. By holding back on the cylinder, I THINK I'm measuring end-shake. Someone posted definitions awhile back but search failed to come up w/it.

What say you experts? TIA

I would call them. Was the gun used? It might have been shot dry a lot.
That is not common with the BFR's as all I have seen are fit nice.
They will fix it for you.

Where are you at in Placer county? Jack Huntingtons shop is about half way between Auburn and Grass Valley, not too far off of Hwy 49. He's one of the best revolver smiths in the country. BFR's are one of his specialties. 530-268-6877

I'm in Newcastle ~ yes, I do know Jack and altho I try not to impact his work sched, I did speak w/him on this yesterday. I was gonna talk w/Rob at MR today but after chatting w/Jack I'll wait a bit and see how it shakes out. MR warranty isn't forever, and there's a hassle factor IF I decide to send it back to minneapolis. I just may enjoy it to its max and when it works loose, have Jack go thru it.

Having a 'smith of Jacks caliber in our neck of the woods is indeed a blessing ~ particularly when many businesses are leaving the state.

Thanks for the comments ~

Also you might try "Pro Gold" lube. It's a grease with microscopic bronze in it as a sacrificial metal. It might help it from beating itself to death. I got my last bottle of it a Sportsmans Wherhouse.
