What precision can one expect when shooting 45 Long Colt in a 454 Super Redhawk 7½"?

Just like the .454, it depends on the load. They should shoot very well. I have shot the .480 out of the .475 and thousands of .44 specials from the .44 mag with no problems other then having to clean the throats good.
It is always better to use the longer cases for light loads so the boolits can enter the throats but for a limited diet I see no problems. Try them and you might be surprised and if they don't shoot as good you are not out much.

I've had good luck shooting 250 gr xtp's from my super redhawk in 45 colt cases at 1250 fps. mine has the 9 1/2 in bbl. They actually shoot more accurate then the .454.

Do you use +P 45Colt brass for that load or is normal brass ok?

Is it ok to load 45Colt loads in 454 brass or will the pressure decrease with the bigger case?

Normal brass is very strong, built as tough as any .44 mag or larger brass. It can be loaded as hot as the Rugers can take.

I have had better luck, accuracy, with 45 colt brass when loading 45 colt loads for the .454 RH then when I used .454 C brass. I have found that the .454 likes big charges of powder and heavy bullets. The 250 grain bulllet being about the lightest. when I use the 45 colt brass I can use lighter bullets and smaller charges of powder, thus less recoil, making for a better practice load.
