Sendaro45 ACP hand loads for wild hogs
Anyone been using a 45ACP for hunting wild hogs? I would like to hear what you have to say about it.

BugSendaro,
It would definately be better than a stick. I think I would opt for something with more whomp. The .45 would kill a hog, but at what distance? Generally speaking the .45 is a fairly close-range proposition. The bullets aren't all that, for penetration in heavy game. Lastly, it doesn't have enough velocity to suit me.
All that said, were I approached by a hostile porker I would use a .45 ACP, if that's what I had. I'd use ball ammunition, and shoot for the brain. But. it would have to be CLOSE! I would MUCH rather be carrying my 4" .44 mag, loaded with 250-300 gr pills.

bfrshooterI agree with Bug. The ACP does not have the right bullet shape or the velocity to be reliable.
