Barrel Length for Super Redhawk

I am going to send my 44 mag Super Redhawk to MagNaPort to have the barrel cut back from
7 1/2" and front sight remounted.What length
5 1/2", 5", 4 3/4", 4 5/8" or 4 1/2" would
be best?

I would think that the 5 1/2" barrel should balance nice and be comfortable to pack.

I'd say 5". The frame extension is 2 1/2" long, so it will be aesthetically balanced, and physically balanced.

Thanks guys,I can`t wait for income tax refund to get back so I can send it in to magnaport.
Paul did you ever look at the 480 Ruger
on Magnaport`s website?

I haven't seen it yet. I have shot several redhawks and super redhawks that friends have had MNP work on, and IMHO, no one does a better action job on Ruger DA's than MNP. I'm sure you'll be happy with the work.

I still need to find a 9 1/2" 480 at the right price to have cut down to 5", and I'll use the stub to make a 48 special on a super blackhawk.
