looking for 45 lc data for 2400
I'm looking for load Charges for 45 lc using 230 grain lead and 2400 powder. Anything from mild to wrist breaker. Thanks.

Nothing. That why I asked. I have found different powders and different grain bullets but nothing specific for 230 led and 2400 powder. Hoping someone has some info that I don't. I did mix up a few using the data for 240 Xtp (20.4 grain). That resulted in about a 2" grouping at 40ish steps off hand standing. Not too bad recoil. Didn't crony it tho.

2 inch groups at around 35 to 40 yards off hand what more does one want.

Very true lol! Unfortunately the group was high and right and I shoot a vaquero lol. I just curious about different loads.

From the HORNADY 3rd edition Reloading manual.

Bullet: 250 grain JHP
Powder: 2400
Case: Win
Primer: Fed 150
Starting load: 13.8 gns @ 750fps
Max load: 16.4 gns @ 950 fps

Test gun was Colt Buntline Special. 4 3/4"

You might try looking around your local gun shop for old Hercules loading manuals. The Alliant 2400 I have tried has chronoed extremely close to some old Hercules 2400. Just start at the minimum charge weight and find work works best for your revolver.

MSHitman,I still load with a decent sock of Hercules 2400 with no ill effects. What is the difference if any to the Alliant mfg.?

I have a Lyman 45th Edition which probably dates back to the 70's. It lists NO loads for the 45 Colt and 2400. However it does show a load for the 44 mag., 250 cast lead, and 2400 from 18 grs (1088fps) to 22 grs (1295) from a S&W model 29. Back then, I don't think that there was wdiespread use of heavy 45 Colt loads.

I have chronographed loads with both powders and found negligible differences.
