Thomas MParalax issue with scope?
I recently bought a used Leupold M8 4x extended eye relief that I mouted on my SRH. It will be used for load development mainly. Problem is that there seems to be a paralax issue, when moving my head sideways and up/down the crosshair moves significantly on the target (I would say several inches on 25 yards). I'm totally new to handgunscopes but in a scope for a target rifle this problem is because of wrongly adjusted paralax (or focus as it may be called in the us).
-At what distance is this scope paralax free?
-Is there something wrong with my scope or is it allways like this on a handgun scope?

bfrshooterMost handgun scopes are set for 50 to 100 yd's. I never shoot 25 yd's and do all load and accuracy work at a minimum of 50 yd's. You are wasting time at close range! I can take my worst boolits and loads and put them in one ragged hole at 25 yd's. That gun will shoot way less then 1" at 50 yd's and I have hit pop cans at 200 yd's with it.
Back off and you will learn a whole lot more. There is just no way to tell the difference between loads at that close a range.

Thomas MI just found out that the scope is paralax free at 90 yards...
I go shoot to night and I will try it at 50meters (about 55yards).

Thomas MIts a 454. It seems the scope is broken, the paralax error at 50m is about 50cm (about 55 yards and 20")
I shoot groups that are way too big (12") and I even got a few misses on the target....
No wonder I got it cheap...
Any Idea if Leupold can fix it? No idea how old the scope is and I'm not the original owner...

Leupold has a lifetime warranty you don't have to be the original owner Leupold has product service in Sweden & Germany listed on their web site.I had an accident with a Leupold that was my fault, called service in Oregon, sent it in,they replaced the bent tube body w/o charge checked out the settings, recharged it, zeroed everything and it worked perfectly on my Sako Finnsport 300wm during a Bison hunt in Idaho.

Thomas MThe Swedish importer fixed the scope for free

The warranty is 30years here in europe.
Now I have shoot some 2" groups at 50meters and I guess its my fault the groups wasn't smaller and not the scope.
