TemboFavorite BIG Game Bullet For the 454 Casull
Guys, I am wondering if anybody has any favorite bullets for really big game-Cape Buff, Bison, Big Russian Boar, ect. to use in my Freedom Arms 83. I have been looking at the Barnes Buster and Punch Bullet, but don't have any real world experience with either.

WV HitmanPunch for buff, Cast Performance SWC for everything else. I used Cast Performance on water buff and rhino in .475 Linebaugh. Bullets deformed some which retarded penetration. I've not used my .454 on really big stuff since I have the .475 and .500, but I'd do Punch bullets for buff and Cast Performance on other stuff. They have always done well for me.

+1
A good hard 300 grain cast bullet will handle most anything.

jwp475My favorite is the Cast Performance 360 grain WLFN at 1400 FPS. Outstanding performance and easier to at 1400 FPS than 1500 FPS

WhitworthCorBon's Penetrators are very good as well. They have a really big meplat and won't deform when they hit something hard. At .454 velocities I prefer the Punch and Penetrator as it is easy to overdrive a cast bullet (they work perfectly when you slow them down -- that's why I prefer the .45 Colt to the .454).
