Does anyone happen to know of a 45 caliber FMJ RN with cannelure? I'm looking for a 230 grain ACP FMJ but since the ACP headspaces off the case's mouth, most of them don't have cannelures. I was wanting to launch it out of a .454 Casull, and needed the cannelure to crimp the loads.

I have some 230gr wadcutters, my plan was to crimp it on the bullet shoulder. Eventually I'm planning on seeing what I can doe with a 185gr bullet. I should be above 2000fps easily.

I ran into a similar problem. I have a 10mm / .38-40 Ruger convertable. I wanted to put a cannalure on 10mm bullets to shoot in the .38-40 case. I bought a Clymer canalure tool. Works great. You can put the cannalure any where you want it on any caliber bullet.

Xtar, have you noticed any accuracy differences with the bullets you put a cannalure on?

Neither of the guns I shoot thes cartridges through are really "tack drivers" to start with, A Model 92 Winchester and a Blackhawk, but I really can't really tell any accuracy difference. I just liked the idea of making a "10mm magnum" by loading the 10mm bullet in the .38-40 case and shooting through the Blackhawk. The case capacity is obviously greater and the blackhawk is plenty strong. Wish I had a chronograph, I was able to inch up over published .38-40 loads quite a bit with no pressure signs. The cannalure is very uniform and doesnt seem to distort the bullet at all.

I shoot 180gr bullets in my Blackhawk 38-40 that are in the 1400's without much fuss. I've never "pushed" it to see just what it would do.
