Turk1961Gunsmithing a Ruger
What would it cost to have a Ruger 44 barrel cut back to 4 5/8".
Or would it be better to have the barrel replaced? At what cost?
How about having it tuned up, trigger and action?
Who would you get to do it?
Thanks for your help.

WhitworthEveryone has their favorite gunsmith/gunbuilder -- here's mine: Jack Huntington -- his number is 530/268-6877
Give 'em a call. You will find his work to be very reasonably priced and second to none.

BoxheadNot sure where in Texas you are but Alan Harton is in Hosuton and is second to none with sixgun 'smithing.
you can also send it back to ruger and they will switch one of their 4 5/8" barrels pretty reasonable.

Jim AlvordMy suggestion would be to Replace the barrel with what you want. If you have your barrel shortened, it would require removing the barrel, cutting to length, facing and crowning and installing a new sight. This would more than likely cost you much more than a new barrel. You would also have your original barrel to boot.
