Which Hodgdon powder for 45 LC?
A friend had a friend who is going to send me some Hodgon powder for free. Niiiice!

For my 4-5/8" NMBH in 45 LC, shooting 260/280/300 gr bullets, which powder wouldl you ask for and why?

I load the heavy for caliber bullets in my 45Colt; the 335 grain LBT GC, and use H110 because it is very consistant for full power loads. I am getting +/- 1292 ft/sec with H110 behind this bullet but it is not for the faint of heart. If you are wanting a powder for a more moderate load maybe something like Universal would work better.

for the milder loadings, I use HS-6. If you have the option, get some of both HS-6 and H110.

H Lil'gun preforms almost identical to H110, except that it seems to burn just a little cleaner. The H110 tend to leave some unburned powder. Either powder would be an excellent choice, as you simple can't stuff enough into the case to get yourself into trouble. Average charge weight for the bullets you listed would be between 18-25gr powder.

Another favorite of mine is Hodgdon Titegroup. I use it more for plinking with cast lead. Charge weights will probably be between 6-9gr.

Yep, H-110 is the gold standard

Another vote for H110........

With the bullet wts. you noted --H 110.

I love the Lil Gun in my .500 with HEAVY bullets but found the H 110 to be more consistent in the 45LC , though I do agree the Lil Gun seems to burn a bit cleaner.

H-110 or 296 for heavy loads, Unique for mid-range loads and Bullseye for light loads.

hs6 is probably the most versitile if your not wanting to run full power loads all the time. It does real well on midrange loads and can be run up to pretty close to the slower powders. By the way ill take some of that free poweder!!
