I finally got to fondle... uh... I mean handle one at the local gunshop yesterday. Now, I must have one. That thing is really ridiculous, in a good way. Let us know how you like it. I think my biggest problem was holding it up!

i bought mine a few weeks ago and absoluly love it i have tryed all three facotry corbon loads just to see what i would like

i ordered 200 440 grain hard cast wide meplate heat treated solids(these ar corbons heavyest load) and 100peices of starline brass

i already worked up some hand loads and i am shooting the 440 gran pill at 1650fps out of my gun with recomended loads from hodgson powder

this gun is 100% pure fun and recoil belive it or not really isnt that bad with the packmyer grips and the new larger frame.

i am seriously thinking of bringing this to africa when i deside to go on my another trip. i am going in april but it will be for buffalo hippo and elephant only and my double rifle will be handling all that.

Went out to the range for a short session this afternoon. Fairly mild handload:

440 grain Cast Performance Bullets

28.2 grains of Accurate #9

CCI 350 large pistol magnum primers

Starline brass

Supposed to produce 1380 fps. Pretty nice shooting in the big gun. Was just having fun, but double-action head shots on the silhouette target at 25 yards were easy. Regards, Guy

Uh... I may be full of baloney but aren't these supposed to be loaded with RIFLE primers instead of pistol? Also check if your cases are made for the rifle primers. Some of the original brass was made for pistol primers.

This Starline brass is set up for large pistol primers, got the load data, bullets, brass and primers last summer. Had to wait until December for the handgun to be delivered though. At that time, last summer, the load data was for magnum handgun primers. Things have changed since then.

I understand that the newer brass was changed to take rifle primers. I'm going to have to keep my original batch of 100 brass separate from later manufactured brass.

I can live with it! Especially since they're shooting so well. Regards, Guy

Accuracy is 2-2 1/2" at 50 yards w/ SW PC 1.5-6 scope, this is with the PC 500 Hunter. Most of my cast bullets 325gr thru 600gr shoot 2 1/2"and under in the PC 500. My SW 500 shoots a little worse with same scope. The PC has a better hunting finish and a little better trigger ,eve though the SW 500 trigger is pretty good, Sean

I bought a S&W 500 about 3 months ago have shot every bullet made for it except the lead bullet. Don't want to shoot lead in this gun. I've been using No9 powder in it and was wondering if any body has found a better grouping powder. My groups are 3 shots in 4 inches at 75 yds. I just know theres got to be something better than No9 and H110.
Let me know what you've found.

Jro45, explain to me why you don't want to shoot lead!!! Personally, I have a pile of condom bullets that will never be used again. Hard lead boolits are all I will ever use for hunting in any of my handguns. What you say does not make sense.

I don't shoot lead very often in any of guns. The reason is because I shot hard lead in my 44 mag at a pretty fast velocity. Fired 40 rounds. It shot high to the right but it didn't change. I was in a match. So when I cleaned it I couldn't get all the lead out no matter how I cleaned it.I shot it out in the end. But I don't like to shoot something I can't clean out so I don't shoot lead anymore and thats
why I don't shoot it in the 500 S&W.

No I haven't shot any Barnes 375gr bullets. I just got some 350gr bullets from Serria. I'll try them.

personally i think the 400grn plus bullets will give the best accuracy thats why i shoot the 440s there have been the most accurate as well as the most powerful for me

oh and buy the way i dont get leading when using the cast proformance bullets in my 500

i have gone to the range fired 50 rounds came home and had my barrel clean in 15 minutes. alittle cr-10 or other good solvent workes great.

my accuracy is in the 1 1/4" range at 50 yeards of a bench
