.454 vs .475 vs .500 ??
That was my point, the .500 in the X-frame isn't so bad, but put it in a BFR and brace yourself! But I tell you, the 400 grain loads I have for my Casull are nearly as painful as the .475 with full-house loads. It's kinda nasty! Big Grin

For the non-reloader, the first thing that comes to mind is the $2.25 cost of ammunition for the 500 Smith & Wesson. 45 Colt is about 50 cents or less, 454 Casull is about a dollar. All can be fired from the .460 S&W (Sorry, I don't know the price of the .460 ammunition offhand).

ok my question what are the calibers that can be fired safely in the 460?

.45 Colt, .454 Casull, and .460 S&W. It pays to reload!

Sorry, TBear99

I am the guitly party who originally composed the sentence you quoted. The "All" I refer to being able to be fired from the .460 are, the 45 Colt, 454 Casull and 460 Smith&Wesson. The other cartridge I mentioned, the 500 S&W, of course, will not fit in the chamber. Badly constructed sentence.

I also left out one cartridge that can be fired from the 454 and 460. The 45 ACP. But you must modify the gun to allow use of moon clips (in the double action guns) or a cylinder with a shoulder in the chamber (for single action guns) for headspacing.
