7-30 waters
< !--color--> I have recently purchased a 7-30 Waters TC Barrel (super 14) that I intend to use for deer hunting. Can anybody suggest a good load for it?? I'm currently shooting up some factory ammo to acquire some brass.
Please send any loads to ks9wi@tds.net. Thanks

I like the 140 gr. Nosler ballistic tip in the 7-30 with 34.0 gr. of Win. 748. After shooting a couple of 120 gr. ballistic tips on antelope, I feel they are a little too fragile. However, in most calibers I tend to go to the heavier bullets, so part of that may be personal bias. If you want a lighter bullet, try the 120 gr. Hornady SSP with 37.5 gr. of Win. 748. That has worked well on antelope. I made an instant kill on a large mountain lion with the 34.0 gr. Win. 748 load and the 140 gr. Nosler partition. I guided for mountain lions for about 10 years and in approximately 60 kills never saw one die any quicker. I hit him inside the front shoulder and went into him lengthwise. Never could find the bullet - it didn't exit but went over 2 feet. You picked a fine caliber for deer-sized game.
