Good Luck!! I will be interested to here how your cast bullets work for deer. I have had good luck with the Hornady XTPs in .44. Be sure to see if you can recover the bullet. Slim

It certainly sounds like that would be an adequate load for whitetails. Earline Mandrell (of the Mandrell sisters) killed a deer in Texas a few years ago using a Glock 20, though off the top of my head I am not sure of the load she used. Good luck!

Finaly! got a 6 point this morning at 10:20est. would most likely have been a 10point but the right side was broken leaveing 1 point on that side and 5 on the left. field dressed he goes 172lb
shot him at 41yds, he was standing broad side. bullet hit a rib, went through the heart, hit another rib and exited. the off side had a finger size exit hole. he took about 8 leaps and piled up.
i'm real happy with the results and bullet performace.
for me the 10mm is fine for deer, i'd like to try it on some wild hogs this spring.
got one more tag for deer this year, think i'll go with the 10 again!!

Congratulations!

You mentioned 200 gr. hardcast. Did you get them from a supplier or cast your own? Did you load the ammunition? If so, the recipe?

i cast them myself from wheel-weights, with Red Rooster lube and Hornady gas checks.
i quench the bullets in cold water and then fit the gas checks, lube and size.
the load i used was:
Norma brass
Winchester large pistol primers
Accurate #9 12 grains
200gr lead hardcast
1200fps from a 6" barrel
THIS LOAD IS MAX IN MY PISTOL
REDUCE BUY 10% AND WORK UP FROM THERE

A friend of mine shot a nice buck in Missouri 1988 with his 10. Same results, simular distance but used a jacketed bullet.

Good work!

Do I understand you to say wheelweights, no added tin, just the quench?

What mold? Where did you get the gas checks?

Probably won't do it, but I do have a 1026. Anyone out there have similar results (full penetration) with one of the factory jacketed rounds?

RCHAPURA:

Do you know which bullet? Factory load or handload?

I wish Glock would make the 10mm in a long slide like they do the 9mm & .40 S&W (I know you can get a longer barrel for the 10mm, but I would like the longer site radius too). I may pick up a Glock 10mm anyway, I think it would make a find gun for walking around the woods. I currently use a S&W .44 mag 629 Mountain Gun, which works fine for that purpose, but am always looking for an excuse to buy another gun .

They did until about a year ago I dont remember the model# you could probably find a used one or convert a .40.I read an article in an archery magazine about Ted Nugent hunting in Africa and he killed a Wild hog at just over 100 yds with longslide 10mm.

TheeBadOne,

Take a look at the Taurus Tracker Titanium in 41 Mag. I have one and it seems to fit the bill as a "walking around in the woods" gun. It only weight 28oz and carries so sweet!

even though i have several revolvers i truly shoot the crunch & clunk autos much better.
if i were in the market for a revolver the tracker would be real high on my list
