daniel77which handgun have you always wanted to own?
We've got one going about our favorite guns that we own. Now let's see what we want to own, but haven't yet acquired.
For me, it is pretty easy. Stainless Colt Python, with 4-6" brl. Beautiful in form and function. One day, just can't justify $1200 for a pistol right now. How about ya'll?

Czech_MadeRuger Bisley Hunter 44 Mag is my next handgun to buy.
Also CZ 75, 1911A, Ruger LCP.

daniel77I can't believe that I left off the 1911. Mil spec will be just fine. I'm pretty much a revolver guy, but I think the 1911 is "old" enough that I can appreciate it. Always wanted one. Will have one.

Les StaleyA couple of times in the last few years I've been looking at a Freedom 97 in 45 Colt.. asked my FFL buddy to price one out, and he told me about a pair of Colt SAA third generations available from a recently deceased mutual freind. Now the Freedom 97 is on the back burner again.. we all have to make some sacrafices... Les

ShofWell, I always wanted a .45 ACP 1911. I managed to find one in great shape and bought it. About 15 years ago, like a dummy, I loaned it to my brother and he "lost" it!

I told him that he owed me another in similar condition, or at least the cash for me to buy another 1911, but somehow he never had the cash. I kept on him for about five years with no success. We don't talk much any more....
Now I'm a disabiled firefighter, so going out and buying another isn't really an option. I'd like to own another.

Not a bad idea for a new thread! This is precisely why there are custom gunsmiths!

ShackMatched pair, consecutive numbered, 1st Gen. Colt SAA revolvers, blue, .45LC, 4 3/4", 1800s black powder frames, mint condition, original factory engraving, original carved ivory stocks (steer heads on one panel of each will do nicely), in the orig. boxes.
Or, come to think of it, I'd like even better the equivalent in cash.

a.tinkererTwo different things, one is more practical for me at this time in my life.
Years ago I'd competed at the local level in practical action-pistol matches.
Lots of fun, my personal style (for purely practical reasons at the time) was to run a box-stock 1911 carry pistol in an IWB concealment holster (wilson pancake type - uuber simple and waay out of the way) and IWB mag pouches.
I was pretty good (had shitloads of top shelf training) and would often place third in the events behind full-kitty hotrod race guns. There was a cop who ran wheel guns who'd beat me whenever he was around (unbelievable handling and shooting skills, that guy was a cyborg) but the matches were often won by somewhat of a margin with hotrod pistols is super 38.
One weekend I'd hung around at the benches to tear-down my .45, I'd tripped and fallen that day, stuffed the gun full of dirt (finished anyway) and wanted it clean before I headed home.
The guy who typically took first walked up, acknowledged me for my efforts, and offered me a test-spin on his competition rig.
Finished the re-assembly of my pistol, ran it for function, and hit the berms with this guy and his double-stack/holographic/ported/timed/tuned... race gun.
What an experience.
I could hit the steel three or four times in a row before they hit the dust, that thing was a blast to shoot.
Always kinda wanted one of those.
More fitting of where I am with the guns at this time in my life, what I'd REALLY LIKE to have is a damascus tubed Jones Lever Under Guard SxS Howdah pistol in 3" 16-bore, set up for roundball.
Birmingham or London built, simple back-action locks with rebounding hammers (AND safety bolts), single standing Wide-Vee express sight with plat triangle at the crook of the vee - big plat front bead on a solid caterpillar, cased with loading and cleaning tools would be perfect, gotta have a belt-hook, spare sight and strikers in the grip-cap.
That would really complete my handgun wish-list.
I'd be set for a very, very long time.
I would hunt with it in a hot second.
Think one ounce roundball, .660"-.670" diameter, at probabally 1000-1100 fpsMV (perhaps a tad more with blue-dot Nitro for Black loads at similar pressures) -- that'd handle pigs, deer, and black bear inside 30 yards no problem.
Black bear shots in the N California timber are more like 25 feet anyway, what a blast it would be!!
Cheers
Tinker
