Shot loads (reloads) for a 454 Casull???
I want to load some shot cartridges for my 454 casull. I dont know if a .410 hull will fit, but I'm going to find out tomorrow when a buddy brings me a hull. What I really need to know is, do any of you have experience loading shot in a brass case, and if so, how do you go about ensuring the shot stays in the case, and enough pressure is generated in the case to be effective??? I've been thinking about a over shot card, maybe some wax too, but I'm not sure. Thanks

I think someone already loads shot for the 45 colt. that should work. never tried them.

I've got some Speer 45 Cal Shotshell capsules that a friend gave me. Haven't loaded them yet, but can't imagine that they wouldn't fit in either my 45 Long Colt or 454 CAsull cases.

I hope this isn't you profession ! Any way 5.0-6.0 grs Red Dot with card board cut to fit inside case fill remaining space with shot of your chioce- leave about a 1/8" at top- another card with a slight crimp applied seal with wax or bullet lube. Good snake medicine out to about ten feet. Enjoy, use this in my 45LC BH haven't tried in 454 yet.

I might add that the Old West Scrounger has #12 shot available. It is expensive but worth it for those who load shot in handgun. For years it has been very difficult to get this small of shot but now "Dangerous Dave" has it. A little goes a long way so the price isn't really all that bad. And you can use 45 Colt brass for any shot loads but you need to take extra care to clean the chambers as they will foul a little extra, like 38 special in a 357.
