TBEAR99first deer with handgun
ok i shot my first buck tonight only second buck i've shot at in my life first 20 some yrs ago when i was 9.I'm the guy that will shoot the doe everytime and pass on buck unless it's a nice rack.A meat hunter basically.Tonight the deer showed broadside about 40 yrds easy shot shot with my trusty 16ga and missed and gun didn't cycle so i set it down and drew my 475 linebaugh and shot went about 15 yards and dropped

MS HitmanDon't worry, it'll just be our little secret. Congrats on the nice buck. Leave the shotgun at home!

I guess this means you are a better shot with a handgun than with a shotgun

TBEAR99gotta keep it with me for the longer shots and the brush.Funny how the shotgun slugs goes through brush alot better then our handgun bullits.I will say i'll plan the first shots with revolver first if possible

Bobby TomekThat is a GREAT deer for a first handgun kill -- heck, for ANY level of hunting!
I'm guessing that revolver gets pressed into action a little more often after this hunt...

Montana MaddnessI have the same problem. Meat hunter most of my life. So for all the deer I have killed (70-100 of them)I have shot but a handfull of "trophies" Only ever shot one big bull elk, and probly 15-20 cows, but I have hundreds of great memories with friends and family. And when it comes down to it that means more to me anyway.
Would be proud as punch to have killed that buck of yours with a hand gun! Never taken a big buck with a handgun.
