TBEAR99all right giving up on long gun for rest of seasons.
all right giving up on long gun for rest of seasons.Went out tonite and seen a button buck which i would norm leave but need meat.Well he was about 50 yards another easy shot so i pulled up and fired and knew i missed but waited a few minutes then went to check i hit dirt at his feet.I decided to use the longgun being i was shooting 3 apple rows over and not sure if i would hit brush and deflect bullet So this is second clean miss with long gun this year so the rest of season will be handgun.I should of listened to you guys earlier when you guys said i should leave the long gun home.Sorry i learned this one the hard way

woodmanDanerrrr...unless that "long gun" was a muzzle loader;kinda stretching the season in the southern zone a wee bit....
Was out tonight after the same 8 pt.I seen 2 times this year. Both other times to far for a shot with my 44 damn....

woodmanDanWell to far for me!

About 120-135 yards...
First time just standing too...but real thick where I hunt...
Had does bed down under a stand last week for 2 hours!I didn't draw a antlerless tag this year, permits were way down in my managment unit...
But I'll say that I wouldn't have gone out at all without a new challenge during our regular season.
Still have a few days in muzzleloader season left here.

WhitworthThat is far, Dan! I wouldn't even attempt that without a rock-solid rest.

TBEAR99dan thanx for pm shows you are a stand up guy and that earns respect around me.As i said in the pm i went out tonight with the black powder handgun and missed 80 yard shot.I'm thinking maybe the welding i've been doing lately is affecting my eyes and probally giving up till i know i'm shooting straight again there is always the nuisance permit deer
Looking forward to meeting you on the hog hunt in march
