E-Z handgun rest
A friend started a topic on this on another forum, and I realized that my last home-made pistol rest ended up in the burn pile before my next-to-last move.
Here is a simple replacement made of 1X8 and 1X2 pine, two two-inch 3/8 carriage bolts with washers and nuts, one four-inch 3/8 carriage bolt and one 3/8 T-nut (inset into the underside of the base) providing three points of contact with the shooting bench. I molded a strip of vegetable-tanned cowhide to the V-groove and tacked in place with non-marring bronze boat nails for easy replacement. It is just shy of 18 inches long. I will try to have a co-worker at the shooting range take a couple of photos of me using it, but you get the idea. The bag is to support the wrists, and the V-notch to support the forward frame or barrel, depending on which gives you best accuracy. The front "wheel" allows easy up-and-down fine tuning. Pretty simple Saturday morning project, fellas for $15 or less. It's fine for tuning loads for your sixguns and autos, but of course the single-shot guys get waaay more sophisticated.8)

There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Bill, that looks great! I usually use the large front rabbit-ear bag from my rifle set-up, but your height adjustment would be helpful, for sure.

Very nice Bill:

One suggestion, paint it with some coating

powder smoke can be wiped or washed off.
