�Load the bullet touching the rifling to start with, if possible. HV and FN bullets do not cause pressure spikes when loaded touching the rifling. Once the desired speed is reached, load 15 rounds with that propellant charge and still at the maximum length possible in the rifle, preferably touching the rifling. Fire three for group. Seat the next three 0.5mm (0.02") deeper and fire for group. Repeat the process until the best group is obtained. Use 1.0mm (0.04") steps if the bullet is over 100 grains.�
I sent him a couple more emails for further clarification but have not heard back from him. Maybe some of you who have used his bullets could help. My question has do to with seating depth increments. I have found that with most bullets a change in seating depth of 0.005 to 0.010� can often make a significant difference in group size. So I was quite surprised when Gerard said that with bullets over 100 grains that I should use increments of 0.040�. Are his bullets so different that they do not respond to seating depth changes of less than 0.040�? I have some of his 160 grain HV bullets on order to use in my 300 Win Mag and do not want to use more than necessary for load development but also want to come up with the best load. Thanks, Rufous.
