180 Nosler Partitions
I just ordered 250 30 cal 180gr partitions for my 06 and was wondering what the fav powder is for this wieght? I have H4350 avail but also really like RL22.

buckshot
Both powders are well suited to that bullet weight and bore size, so you can't go wrong with either. FWIW, I'm partial to IMR 4350, a powder that has proven itself over decades of use. With maximum loads, I doubt there is a 100f/s difference between the two powders.

I agree with buckshot. IMR-4350 is hard to beat.

I'll have to suggest RL22 because it's simply impossible to get too much into the case.
(one of the reasons I have some "reloader" friends using it instead of some other propellant)

However some rifles don't like RL22.

I will strongly recommend lighting it up with a magnum primer, preferably a federal 215.

I believe that the people who have "issues" with RL22 in the 30-06 areusing standard primers.

I learned that little detail long ago...
My brothers 270win wouldn't shoot a Nosler Partition with any ammount of IMR4350, IMR 4831 or H4831, so we switched to RL22, RL22 even with a compressed charge would "smoke" the case necks and shoulders.

Reducing and working back up with Federal
215's showed no smokey necks and no pressure signs and sub-MOA accuracy.

Oh the bullet in his 270? 130gr Nosler partition.

RL19 pushes them very, very well in one of my rifles. I use standard LR primers

I agree they both should work well, but if you are going to hunt in very cold weather, I would use the easier to light powder - 4350.

I've worked up loads with RL22 at 70 - 80F that felt a little weak at 15F. I can't tell if it was real or heavier clothing, but it's my perception.

I would have to agree with what has been said here. IMR-4350 H-4350 RL-22 RL-19.
I have a bunch waiting for my 06 to come back from MPI stocks.

I've done so many loads in my 06's (three different rifles) that I am a firm believer in 4350. The RL's were fine, but 4350 has given me outstanding accuracy.

if you want to get top velocity from your 06 use R22 or MRP and work up to a vel of 2850, this in a 24 inch tube, otherwise just stick with H4350 if you have a 22 inch tube
