Need Speer data for 180 gr FN in 35 Whelen
My old Speer manual doesn't have 35 Whelen data. Can any of you with a new manual give me data for 180 gr Flat Nose. I have IMR 4320 and WW 760 on hand, so listings for those two if available will be a help. Any pet loads with other powders & this bullet out there? Thanks for your help. Bob

The Speer #12 manual show 57 gr max at 2593 fps and 53 gr min at 2319 fps.

Those velocities are not so hot. The powder must be too slow. The top velocity is with H335 with 65 gr giving 2891 fps and 61 at 2800. That powder is also produces the highest velocity of any in the LoadBase program. WW760 may be slow also as only WW748 is listed in that program.

That bullet is my favorite in the .358 Win for deer.

Always check load data against another source.

bob,

I have a Speer #7 which shows 35 Whelen 180 gr flat nose loads for 4320. They show max of 54 gr max load and 50 gr minimum load. I am not sure about there velocity #'s of 2660 fps for max load.

They show the top performance with IMR 4198 using 44 gr max load and 40 gr minimum. they show 2743 fps with the max load.

This data again is from the Speer #7 book.

Just remember the rule start low and work up! Every rifle is an individual.
