Will be shot out of a 24" Vanguard. What are some good powders to start with and what kind of speed are you getting? Thanks in advance!

IMR 7828 would be a good place to start. I would be more concerned about the groups it will shoot than the speed

Reloader 22 or 25 works well in the 300 Wby too.

God Bless, Louis

I don't have any experience with the 300 Wby, but do with 300 Win Mag. I would think that H1000 and Retumbo would also be good choices. H1000 works great in the 300 Win Mag with 180gr bullets.

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

2950-2975 from two 24" 700s in .300 Roy. About 1" to 1.25" for 5 at 100 yds, consistent. Remington cases, WLRM, IMR 7828. 200 gr Partitions, instead of Accubonds b/c the only BT bullets that shoot well in any of our 3 .300 Roys have been monometal TTSX. They shoot great, BTW.

Tried faster burn rates (IMR 4350, IMR 4831, new H4831) but end up burning more powder to have a .300 Win.

IMR-7828 is my go to powder for the 300 Wby. but my last Speer 200 grain loads were with H-870 to the tune of 93 grains. That gave me 2978 fps out of my 26" barrel Mark V. 1" groups at 100.
