More DP 74 & some oddities

Cartridge; .308 A&B barrel, cases LC74, primer WLR, Powder DP74.

150 gr. fmj. from pulled cartridges,45gr. 74, oal=2.860", crimped. 2788 to 2839 fps., accurate a little soot.

125gr., psp, 45.7gr. 74, oal=2.657"2958 to 2966 fps. not bad.

125gr. psp., 47.3gr. 74 oal=2.710". 3051 to 3072 fps.OK.

168gr.FMJBT.Rem., 45gr. 74, oal=2.735",2727 to 2738 fps. 2" group at 300 yds. good stuff.

150gr FMJBT., Golden West, 45gr. 74, crimped, oal=2.737". 2800 fps. so-so.
[/LIST]None of these loads exhibited any excess pressure.

FYI

The Ruger Varmint .243 would not stabalize the 105 Berger VLDs. at 2500 fps. 1 out of 10 hit paper at 100 yds.

The 150gr. Berrey bullet driven by 2 different loads of blue dot produced 6 shot moa groups at 100yds. one load avg. 1785 fps. the other 1825 fps.Really pleasant to shoot.

Got a .223 case stuck in the resizing die. Tore the rim off on 2 sides.----
cleaned all burred and deformed brass, brought the shell holder back up , rotated shell holder 90 degrees so it was now ingage with undamaged remaining rim. Loosened locking nuts on expander screw (RCBS die).

While keeping a fair amount of pressure on the press handle turned the screw forcinig the bottom of the expander against the cases base. With steadily increasing force on handle and torque on screw driver the case released.

Others may have done this before but it was unknown to me. YES! It was pleasing that it worked.

Hey Roger, Good to hear. I was wondering about his 1700fps recommendation he has on those Bullets. Good to hear you were able to exceed it a bit and still get excellent accuracy

I tried the Berry's 150 in a couple of
Schmidt-Rubin rifles yesterday. MOA or
less in both of them. I used 14 and 15
grains of Blue Dot. First thing I did
when I got home was order some more of
these bullets. A plinker's delight --
Cheap AND accurate !
