458RugerNo1Looking for .375 H&H 300gr bullet load...
Anyone got a good load they can share for the .375 H&H using 300gr bullets? I want to duplicate factory load velocities with the 300gr Hornady SN.
Thanks!
70 to 71 grains of Reloader 15. Accurate and delivers good velocity.
Be sure to start lower and work up to this in your rifle.
Tim
I use the Hornady RN 300 gr bullet I use win case and 78 gr of AR2209 (similar to IMR4350) I also use a wlr primer.

BFaucettCartridge: .375 H&H Magnum
Powder: IMR-4064
Charge: 68.0 grains
Case: W-W
Primer: Winchester WLR (standard primer; not the magnum)
Bullet: Hornady 300gr Round Nose
Muzzle Velocity: chronographed ten-shot average of 2480fps
Extreme spread: 43fps
Rifle: Ruger M77 MkII Magnum (RSM)
Barrel: 23"
Scope: Leupold 1.5-5x Vari-X III
I've tried both the Winchester WLRM (magnum) and WLR primers. The use of the standard primer (WLR) cuts the extreme velocity spread roughly in half with no loss in muzzle velocity. (From an extreme spread of 87fps to 43fps.) On a day when I'm doing my part, this load will put three into a cloveleaf at 100 yards. My best group at 200 yards was about 2.5 inches for three shots. There are probably other powders that will give a little more velocity (like IMR-4350, W-760, etc.) but I haven't tried those yet.
Usual caveats apply about backing down the powder charge a little and working up when changing components.
By the way, 68.0 grains of IMR-4064 with a 300gr bullet was Jack O'Connor's recommended recipe for the .375 H&H.
Just my two cents....

BIG SAMMy model 70 likes 72.5 gr. of RL 15 using 300 gr. North Fork bullets and 1/2 turn on the 'Lee Factory Crimp Die'.
Federal Gold Medal Magnum primers; Norma brass.
I get 2500 fps out of a 23" barrel. 3/4" groups on average, but have done better when I was "on".
All the best,
Sam
