Sixgun SymphonyCleaning the seating die - dried lube!
I got alot of dried on, crusty bullet lube inside my seating die. What is an easy way to clean it out?

MarkBrake parts cleaner and toothpicks or bamboo skewers.
I bet sneaking them into the silverware rack of the dishwasher would also work.

krakyI usually clean them with wd-40. I flush out the die and then swab it out with shotgun patches over a big swab like you use in shotgun bores.
I'm sure brake cleaner will work too but who doesn't have an old can of penetrating oil laying around??

BigJakeJ1sThe Hornady seating dies easily disassemble for cleaning, without touching the settings, while still on the press. Dillons do this too, but they don't have the floating alignment sleeve or the optional micrometer adjusting screw. Come to think of it, the Dillons don't have an adjuster screw at all, you screw the whole die in/out to change seating depth (since they don't crimp).
