Accubond vs Ballistic Tip
Hey,

I wish to develop a load for my 300 WSM using 180gr Accubonds, and was wondering if I could substitute 180gr Ballistic Tips whilst doing my load development to save the cost on the Accubonds?

Cheers,

Michael.

Yes, but there is no guarantee that they will group the same, even though they will likely be very very close.

Just buy some Nosler 2nds in 180. I think I got 1000 or close. If I recall, they were cheaper than regular priced btips.

I would develop loads with both bullets at the same time.

Then you could use the BT's for practice and on those occasions where the Accubonds are not needed.

In terms of exterior ballistics the two bullets are about as similar as dis-similar bullets can be.

INTERNAL ballistics are likely to be different.

THE thing that differentiates the accubond from the ballistic tips as far as internal ballistics is concerned is the difference in jacket thickness leading down to the base.

Try them and see...

But I'll bet that the accubonds develop more pressure at lower charges.
