284LUVR120gr. Nosler FP in 284 Win.
anybody tried this bullet in the 284 Win.I know it was originally designed for the 7-30 Waters and was wondering about the velocity increase and it's use on deer

Hot CoreIt might or might not do OK at a higher Velocity. Since it was "Designed" to work at 7-30Waters velocities, it seems that would be the proper Velocities to load for.
The 120gr Speer Hot-Cor and 120gr Nosler B-Tips work fine at SAFE MAX 7mm-08 load levels as long as you are not shooting through a row or two of beans.
Is there a particular reason you want to use the 120gr Nosler FP?

Hot CoreHey 284LUVR, I agree about the 0.284" 120gr Nosler B-Tip being a fine bullet. I've killed a bunch of Deer with it at 7mm-08 velocities and have always gotten Exits.
I wanted to try them shoulder-to-shoulder, but I don't believe that shot ever presented itself.
I did find a lot of Bloodshot meat using them though, so I really prefer a slightly heavier bullet.
Best of luck to your friend and you this Season.
