160 Failsafe loads - 7mm Rem Mag
I just picked up some 160gr failsafes for my 7mm rem mag. Any suggested loads? What has been your experience with this bullet?

Thanks - Gib

Thanks for the help guys-

Snorkel Bob- I'm partial to H4831sc, RL22 & RL25. Mostly because I have all three in my loading room right now. Any good loads are more than welcome though.

I grew up in Fresno and just moved out a year ago. Did you hunt D7 this year?

Thanks again- Gib

Nope didnt hunt D7. I wont rifle hunt that place anymore. Too many idiots. Bowhunt yes. although its damn hot unless I get up around Kaiser and even then its still hot. Seems like most urban cowboys dont want to work at bowhunting. Im planning on going out of state next year, hopfully Idaho.

Well the only powder in the Nosler book on your list is RL22.
Low -59grns - 2868
high -63grns -3058

Just like what POP said. 62 grns might work but Id probably work from 61grn on up for accuracy sake

Snorkel Bob-

I just figured I'd ask. I worked there for 4 yrs before moving to KS.

My brother uses the Fail Safe 160's in his 7RM and they do a great job on Elk. Would probably give one shot kills if he'd wait about 30 seconds [Big Grin]

He usually send a second one along if they start to stand up after the first one.

NMWater-

I'm glad to hear about the performance on elk. That's why I am playing around with the failsafes in the first place. Sounds like I made a good choice.

Retumbo From 65.0 grains to 71.3 grains
CCI-200 Primer

But I didn't like the Failsafes as much as the 168 Sierra and 175 Nosler.

My best groups with the 160 gr. Failsafes were @ 65.0 gr. of IMR 4831 with Fed 215M primers in R-P brass. Personally, I would use Swift A-Frames for elk over the Failsafes. I use the Swift's in my .338 Win with excellent results on elk. The Swift's have the best weight retention/expansion chacterists and accuracy in a hunting bullet. If I was to go with Nosler's I would pick 175 grainers for elk.

Good Luck - Woody

Retumbo working out ok with the 7MMrem mag?
I was wondering if it were better suited for the bigger capacity cartridges or not
