Softs and sollids with same point of impact..
This July I`m headed for Namibia, with a various bag of plains game.
I`ll bring my .30-06 rifle loaded with 180 Nosler Partitions. This load will be used for most of the game, but I thought of some FMJ`S for the small ones (dik-dik, klipsringer, duiker, caracal), to avoid/minimize pelt damage..
Could anyone recommend a bullet with similar weight/BC (BC for the Nosler is 0,474), or any suggestions with reloads that you have made with same point of impact..

Hi Anders
Unless you are taking very long shots, the diff. in bc. and to a point even bullet weight does not matter enough to worry about. All you need is to load a FMJ bullet to the same point of impact or nearly the same point of impact as the one you will do your other/most hunting with. Take a look at a ballistics program like RCBS.load or Normas homepage and you will see. Sometimes, but only sometimes, the point of impact can not be made to match, sideways. But try it out for yourself.

I may be wrong but I am not sure you can use FMJ on antelope in Namibia. From the website for the Namibian Professional Hunter's Association:

"No solid point cartridge is allowed to be used on antelope or any other species."

I'm trying to get my .404 softs & solids to the same POI. It's not as simple as same BC, bullet material length, etc. play havoc w/ bbbl. vibrations. If solids are not aloud, try the Barnes 'X' or CombineTEch. (nonmoly). Both are very tough bullets that will expand little on the smaller stuff.
