145gr speer hot core SP spitzers
150gr remingtion core lokt pointed SP spizter
154gr hornady SP interlock
154gr hornady RN interlock
Books vary a lot so any pointers as to whether it's possible, what charge weights and pressures would be appreciated.TIA

145 gr SP Speer #1629, 47.6 grains , 46,340 PSI
150 gr Rem PSP Corelokt, 47.3 gr, 49,369 PSI
154 gr HDY SP #2830, 47.2 gr, 51,877 PSI
154 gr HDY RN #2835, 48.3 gr, 50,785 PSI
Red line is 56,564 PSI, so all loads are safe (at least in my computer!) Drop back at least 5% and work up.
Good Luck,
Don
Just for grins could you run the same bullets maybe add the 139 gr Horn. but use H414,H4831 and RL19.
I want to see how the program compares to my home brews.
Thanks
BD
Very many thanks, I never cease to be astounded at what a brilliant resource this is. You are correct about the fast lot which I thought I was going to have to add to the post today, I will find out the lot no tonight.
Next given the same accuracy which would you go for? As I mentioned elsewhere this is supposed to do it all from 30-400lbs up to 250yards. I'm a bit worried about wind with the RN and don't know if it will kill that much better even if it'll look the part.
The numbers on my N160 cannister are:-
976/99
01398
290699
You have to either give me the charge weights or the velocities or the max pressures if you want to compare results.
I like to compare the model results with reality, so by all means give me the info.
1894,
Thanks, I will make a note.
Don
So Sorry!!
The goal is to achieve 2750 from a 24" barrel 7x57 using H414, H4831 and RL19.
Bullets will remain the same but add the 139 gr Hornady SP.# 2820 and the 154 Gr #2830.
regards
BD

I usually use QuickLoad to help me choose which powder to buy, then verify the suggested load with the manufacturer.
I usually choose a pressure I don't want to exceed, (50,000 PSI for this cartridge -- 10% below max pressure of 56,564 PSI) then see which powder gives me good velocity and a reasonable case fill, and more than 96% burnt before the end of the barrel. I like lightly compressed loads - others like just under 100% fill.
I like the 2700-2750 fps range for Hornady bullets in 308. I can't see why they wouldn't work at that velocity in the 7x57. The Rem Corlokt has a good rep at these velocities, too. Any faster and you'd be better served buying premium bullets.
Make your screen wide, it may help you to read this. I'd go with H4350 (or SC) and the 154 grain bullet, personally.

So no admission of fast lots! Me - I'm reaffirmed in my desire to rework loads when purchasing new kegs of powder.

Between the two of us we have killed over 50 deer, 4 antelope, numerous coyotes and hundreds of jack rabbits with this load. I have known the bullet to shed it's jacket when it hits heavy bone at close range but I don't recall either of us ever losing a head of game with it. I have weighed several recovered bullets and have found them to retain from 65% to 85% of their weight.
Please Note: This load is near max! If you decide to try it please work up to it carefully.

Thankyou, I too like Speer bullets, a muntjac deer is probably not much bigger than a jackwabbit. I hope the flat base is as accurate.
Thankyou for the warning re max load. Actually it is 9.5gr that's right 9.5gr over the reccomended speer maximum, I think you should have pointed this out, I don't want to seem ungrateful but if I were to take your load and reduce it by 10% to work up I would still be starting with a load 4.5gr above maximum. As the speer data is +P anyhow that's just plain dangerous, are you sure you got the right powder?

I should have done a better job of proofing my message. Once again - Very Sorry!
