will tumbling media clog a rifle hollow point?
Have any of yall tumbled old hollow point bullets to get the tarnish off of them. Does the media in the tip prevent the hp from opening up?

I doubt the media would have a noticeable impact on the hollow point expansion.

The exception is if your media is well used and has a lot of powder from broken down media. That material can build up inside the hollow point; especially if you use any additional liquid polishes. Not all plugged hollow points fail but the odds go way up.

it will get in there.

and no it don't stop the bullet from opening, I actually fill mine with media to insure they do open.
it's a lot easier than sitting there tapping a piece of shot in the opening.

It will and it don't matter. When that bullet hits something, a .005 grain piece of dust in the tip won't be noticed by either the bullet, or the target.
You have better things to worry about.

Since the "HP" of a match bullet isn't really designed to "open up" on impact anyway (except for Berger who says their's will???) it doesn't really matter if a small kernel of polishing media gets in the tip of a HPBT projo.
In fact, back in the day, the Sierra Match Kings I used to shoot a LOT of matches with (both .223 & .308 calibers) often already had some of what looked to be corn media in some of the projo tips...

The open tip of like a Barnes copper/hunting bullet IS designed to open but I doubt a little bit of media would change that, especially if the velocity was high enough for them to perform the way they are supposed to anyway...
