at least there is suppose to be....

But some of my recent purchases of Hodgdon's powder hasn't been coming with 7000 grains...They are falling short....

I base this on I should get X amount of 223 cases loaded out of this pound of powder.... and it has been falling short by about 5 to 10%......This based on loading 300 to 400....223 cases... at one time...

Using 35 grains in a 22.250 last week, I should have gotten exactly 200 loads out of that can of BLC 2... I ended up with a 183....

Just for informational purposes....I haven't written to Hodgdon over it... as I don't think they are trying to rip anyone off... Heck they kept IMR powder and are keeping Winchester Powder available to us... For that alone, I can live with a pound of powder being 6500 grains per pound instead of 7000... lol

Ol` Joe
I`d call `em! They may be happy to find they have a problem.
The next guy might not be as forgiveing and at any rate misrepresentation of wgt on a product sold by wgt is fraud. The state won`t be easy on them if they inspect the amount in a container and it doesn`t match the weight indicated on it.

If they ARE actually giving you a pound, you will want to calibrate your scale and check the charges your powder measure is throwing. Again, assuming a full pound of powder, you would be overcharging your cases by 3.25 grains per round, or 9.3%.

If it's not a full pound, I'd definitely take it up with Hodgdon.
