HipsterGood to go
Every so often I find a load that just shoots the lights out day in and day out. I went to the range after work today to check out my Whelen and make sure that everything is good for the Start of bear season. I have been working with 225's as of late but I decided to go back to a load using Speer 250's that I worked up last year. Honestly I had forgotten how accurate this load is.
My first three shot group at 200 yards was a couple of inches low. Adjusted the elevation shot a 3 shot group after I let the barrel cool for about 10 mins. Same with the third and final group.
Here is a picture of the target.
I did not allow for the wind that picked up during the last 2 groups. The rifle has a VX2 3x9 on it so I can't expect much tighter groups than these with me on the trigger. More than accurate enough for any bear hunting I will ever do. This load should also fill my Elk tag if I am lucky enough to get a good shot at one inside 300 yards.
Oh boy I am warm and fuzzy right now!
