Weather Proofing Paper Patched Bullets
I have the book, "The Paper Jacket", by Paul Matthews, where he talks about cooking his patched bullets in beeswax, (ala original Martini-Henry bullets), and then covering them in dry graphite for lubrication prior to loading. Does anyone have any other methods to weather-proof paper-patched bullets?

Byron: In my .45-120 with Fg black, I seat a wad on top of the powder then place a wax paper disc on top of that. I then rub some vaseline on the patch before seating. The vaseline also helps to avoid tearing the patch while seating. Something I always used to do to several cartridges out of a box of 20. I've never had a problem with the vaseline migrating into the powder screwing up ignition. Hope this helps some. Bear in Fairbanks

I coat mine with Lee liquid alox, seem to work fine.
