powder for gs in a 30.06?
Looking for powder suggestions for 150gr gs custom in a 30.06. What powders have worked well for you? I have seen the suggestions on their website, just looking for others.
Thanks, ArtVandelay

What 4831 is to the 270, 4350 is to the 30-06. Use Hodgdon's H4350. The new generation of the H4350 is rated "extreme" and should be very temperature stable.

Of course there is nothing wrong with IMR 4350 either. Many folks swear by that powder, and I ain't gonna rock their boats by grandstanding for the H4350.

Another good choice for the aught-six and the 150's is 57 grains (MAX) of W760.

Best of luck,

In my limited experience, the GS bullets like their powders on the fast side of the list of appropriate powders. They also like the more easily ignited one's. FWIW, Dutch.

Let us know what worked and what velocity you got.
My thoughts are also along the lines of 4350's and 760 or 414. I have some 150 gs's sitting here so let us know how they turned out and the velocity you got. PS--Id be careful taking them above normal max's in the load manuals. From what I've read there are "mixed" reactions as to whether or not the driving bands really do reduce pressure.
