Re: 25-06 long range bullet
Ramrod340,
thanks for that, my main query was wether the 120flat base hornady would lose its accuracy after 300yds?
5 shot group @ 100yds is about 1/2 moa, that should equate to 2.5 moa @ 500 that is if it does not lose its accuracy further down range..

Ricciardelli
how big was the antelope( weight) and did you get an exit wound?

Many thanks

Around 90 pounds, and no exit wound.

As for your "MOA" ... MOA is the same regardless of range. If it is 0.5 MOA at 100 yards, it is still 0.5 MOA at 500 yards. If it is 0.5" at 100 yards, then it is 2.5" at 500 yards.

speaking from experience with other bullets the only way to know for sure what the group size is at 500 is to shoot it at 500. I've seen them go both ways.

let me first say that 500yds is a long range for me, thats just to quell the hoardes of true long range shooters.

I currently use the hornady 120gn hp which has a flat base, is there a bullet that is readily available that would be superior in your opinion to the hornady at this range....

Many thanks

The long 120 has good balistics as it is. Even if you could greatly increase the BC of the bullet you are only talking an inch or two less drop at 500yds. If your bullet is nice and accurate the live with it.

Another vote for the Sierra 120 gr HPBT.
My son use it for open range roe deer hunting in a Rem 700.
Superior accuracy in his rifle
