touchdown886.5x55 and 130 grain Scirocco
Has anyone tried the 130 scirocco in a 6.5x55? I've got one on a Dumoulin mauser action from Sarco and want to run it at a higher pressie than the old 96 actions.
Thanks,
Tyler

vapodogMy 6.5 X 55 is built on a VZ-24 action and while I've used the 130 sciroccoII, I'm settled on the 120 Northfork bullet and while the quickload folks tell me that my load of IMR-4831 which yields a tad over 3,000 FPS is a bit warm, it sure handles well and has accounted for several whitetails and one ten-pointer.
All I'll say is that it's several grains over the max listed on Hodgdon'e website. It's quite compressed and you may have to load the powder in halves compressing each half. You can also try either of the 4350 powders as well
If you have a modern metallurgy '98 style action, you can work up the same as I have done.
As you already know, the 6.5 X 55 is a superb round and worthy of a little careful working up.
