Did some load work for a 30.06 Mauser (stupid as this sounds,I don't know what model it is.I was told it was a WWII surplus gun,it has a square tang safety) using Hornady 180 btsp interlocks on top of IMR 4350 in loads ranging from 52.0-55.0 grs.in .3gr. increments.I couldn't find data on this bullet/powder combo so I used the data from "Steves Pages" to get a recipe.(yes,I know,he shoots speer pills)Anyways, when I got to 54.7 grs. the bolt lift was slightly sticky, not much, but noticable. The data that I did find for other 180,s(speer,sierra,nosler) using this powder show max loads in the 55.0-56.0 range.I had loaded a rd. at 55.0 and did not fire this one(I like 20-20 vision and having ten fingers)Also,on the "primer face"?(is that the correct term)there are obvious scratch/ejection marks, but only on the face.I don't have chrony so I don't have a clue what the velocities are,nor do I care.I look for little cloverleafs at safe pressures. If I hadn't found this website and "lurked",I wouldn't have given the sicky bolt a second thought and fired that last round! Who knows what could have happened, but we will never know.Thank you guys. The knowledge I gained from site probably saved me alot of grief.

P.S. If anyone has the correct recipe for this combo I'd like to get it from you.

I once joked with a new poster saying "Welcome to AR.....put on your hardhat"

While a few posters here are adamant about their techniques I must say that AR has quite a few extremely good posters regarding reloading and other topics too! I don't know of a better place on the net to ask a question and get answers so good as here.

3 tenths of a grain very likely wouldn't have made things come apart, but you did the right thing IMO.

You know I love 4350 but I would tried a little slower powder with the 180 gr. pills. thumb
