jeffeossoRe: 416 Taylor cases: 458 or 338 ?
you mean there's a choice?
I'll send you ONE 338 piece of brass, you buy a bag full of 458... you'll spend more time and effort to ruin the one 338 than to form all the 458 to 416 taylor

EterryHi all, I have ordered an A&B in 416 Taylor and want some advice. I was planning on using 458 WM brass and size down, but have been told might want to use 338 WM brass and fireform. Which did you do? What do you recommend ?
Good luck and good shooting,
Eterry

p dog shooterI just did a hundred 416 taylors from 458 wm brass it worked really great. A lot easier then using 338 brass tried both. Matter a fact I found that if I ran them into the seating die first it started the neck and make it even easier.

Mike375I would always neck down when the choice is available and doubly so if the necking down is done through one calibre range and the necking up has to be through two calibre ranges as is the case with the 338 Win, 416 Taylor and 458 Win.
When you neck up then part of the shoulder of the smaller calibre forms the lower part of the neck in the bigger calibre.
