fla3006457 Wild West
Is anyone familiar with this new cartridge (a lengthened 45-70 loaded to the max)? I didn't know the 1895 Marlin would even handle maximum 45-70 loads, much less these.

m700Check out
http://www.wildwestguns.comAll sorts of info there on lever guns and the .457 Wild West.
I've heard that the 1895 Marlin is supposed to be good for 42,000 CUP in the .45-70. Wild West apparently pushes that a bit.

jackfishFor $190+ you can rechamber your Marlin 1895 45-70 to the 457 WWG or you can have a $40 modification done so your rifle will cycle and chamber a 45-70 with a 2.65" to 2.7" OAL. A 45-70 with the bullet seated to a longer OAL achieves the same performance as the 457 WWG for much less money.

<eldeguello>MAXIMUM .45/70 loads will equal what this outfit is listing!! AND, NO, the M95 Marlin should not be abused with that pressure level with a .45/70!! Only Browning 1885's, Ruger No. 1's, Siamese Mauser conversions, and others in this strength classification!!
