It's the powder I use for 308 Winchester loads.

I tried it in a 458 Lott and it worked OK but other powders worked just as well and one worked better.

Darn right....good stuff there.

I wouldn't use it in the .338 magnums or lower pressure loads in the 45-70....it can be used in the higher pressured loads for the 45-70 however.

It works very well in 308, 30.06, 7-08, 243, 260.

I use a lot of it. I'll use it now and then for 270.

I use it in my .375H&H. It allows me to get enough powder in the case under some of the really long bullets and still get good velocity. Some of the 300grainers take up alot of room. You can get 78grs of IMR4350 under a 300gr Hornady RN, but only 73 uder the BTSP.

in LOTs of stuff...

It is great in a 338 Mag...you'll give up about 100 fps MV is all, and gain some great accuracy in many 338's..

however for a 45/70 it is actually too slow for that round... but it can be used.. will just yield low pressure and low velocity..

but that combo usually means better accuracy..

I loaded a few 400gr.speers with it in the 45-70 and filled the case/compressed a little with the big bullet having to be seated very deep to chamber,the rounds shot fine and i had very good accuracy,I have since read that imr-3031 was suppose to be the best powder for the 45-70???
Also i tried it in the 338wm and the long 250gr.nosler ...it filled the case up again and shot great,just as good as any other powder i have tried so far with great accuracy....I like a powder that fills the case up....Iam gonna try it next in the 243 & 30-06..Thanks for all the help!

I use it for 338 Win mag with 200's. Less recoil than the slower burners, good accuracy.
I also use it in:
25-06 with 90's
35 Whelen with 250's
30-06 with 150's
7.5x55
6.5x55
243 with 58 v-max
458 Win
a few more.

Its my favorite powder lately.

I consider IMR 4064 to be the optimum powder for 150 gr. bullets in the 30-06. It gave me the best accuracy I was able to get in my 6mm Remington. It works very well in the .308, .220 Swift, 22-250, 7 x 57, 257 Roberts, and many others.

If I had to survive on only three powders for centerfire rifle loads, I think I would choose Winchester 748 or maybe Hodgdon Benchrest (for the .223), IMR 4064, and RL 22.

I used 50.0 grs/IMR-4064/150 grainer in my .30-06 and received the BEST accuracy of any load I shot in my Ruger M-77. This load level is equal to the .308, and has very mild recoil.

I am contemplating building a 22/303 (using bits I already have) or spending money on a 257 barrel blank and doing a 257 Roberts. The short 22 barrel that I have troubles me - that and the fact that I would have to be careful with my choice of powders, so your posts are of great interest.
LE270, How would you compair your 220 Swift to your 257 Roberts? (The 22/303 is about identical to the 220 Swift but would have to operate at 45,000 CUP - which is on the ragged edge of the starting loads for the Swift and my 22 barrel is only 24 inches). I have been having a very interesting discussion with FOOBAR under wild-cats on this.

i have used it for .223 rem to 35 whelen with no problems .in some it may not be the fastest but it will work in pinch.

I've used it in the .375 H&H with good results. It produced excellent accuracy, at a small sacrifice in top velocity. I don't think it's the optimum powder for the .375 though -- that would be compressed loads of H4350.
