.240 Weatherby
Just purchased a .240 WBY on a '03A3 action, 26" McGowen barrel (may have been done by McGowen). My first trip to the range using factory Weatherby 95gr. Nosler ballistic tips gave me a velocity as high as 3705fps with a mean of 3684. Is this in the expected ballpark, or should I change the batteries in the chrony?

Change your batteries! If you are really getting that kind of speed at safe pressures with the 95-grain bullet, HANG ONTO THAT RIFLE! It is performing exceptionally well! I only get 3400 from my 26" 6mm/.284, which is pretty much the same as the Weatherby!! [Big Grin]

How was your accuracy? [Confused]

I can shoot 95 gr Berger VLDs at over 3600fps with a 28" barrel 1/10 twist. My best accuracy is below 3400 fps. Speed does no good if you cannot hit anything.
