I've used it with bullets weighing from 40 to 80 grains and was not impressed at all.

It's my powder of choice in the 223 with 55's(1-9 twist), but never tried it in the 22-250. Most shops around here are out, and Powder Valley told my son-in-law last weekend that it would be July before they got any more!

My Encore in .223 loves Benchmark. Most accurate load for my rifle is 25 gr. behind 50 gr. V-Max.

I used up a whole pound of Benchmark with my 22-250 and wasn't able to find a load it liked. I have since floated the barrel, which helped out accuracy alot, so I can't really blame the powder. As soon as I get time, I'll work on a Varget load.

I tried it in a 22/250 after using it in a 223 with fantastic results. Burn rates interchange closely ( but work up) with IMR 3031. However I prefer 3031 in any application over Benchmark, except in a 223.

Benchmark seems to be the happiest and most accurate at close to max velocities. If not at max, the groups opened up in all calibers I tried it in. 3031 in comparison is not so picky.
That is why my preference is for it.

However, I am an anomoly as I am not overly impressed with VarGet although everyone else seems to rant and rave over it.

I use to prefer Hodgdon's powders because their containers were more convenient to use. However, once I found my way around that problem, I have found IMR powders to be overall more accurate and less picky. Of course my load technique is a Lee Powder Dipper, a 505 scale and a manual powder trickler.

Cheers and Good shooting

My absolute most accurate 223 load, 25 gr w/ 52gr Barts = 1 little hole evry time. No other powder has matched it yet in my 223
