I already have some reloading books like Accurate, Lyman,...

Last week I have purchased an A-Square reloading manual for rifle cartridges.

This book is written by former Colonel in the US army Mr Arthuer Alphin. He has a BS degree in Weapons System Engineering from Westpoint, spent about 20 years in the Army, and ran the A-Square company for 15 years or so.

This book is more than a simple reloading book, 50% are reloading tables, 50 other % are all which touch rifles like over sign pressure, accuracy, componants, change the barrel,...

the 2 bad points I have found for this book are : the format of the book good for carry but too small to use, and only A-Square cartridges in the book. But not only A-Square calibers.

This book is great and the best realoding book I have ever seen up to know. It cost money but it worth. If you haven't it purchase it.

Well, BER, I've used the A-2 manual for some years now, and yes, I think it is a very good reloading manual. I don't expect any manual to cover everything, and the fact that Alphin's manual covers his products (as well as common and uncommon other calibers) only seems right to me. FWIW - Dan

If I saw that one for sale I would buy it.

You'll enjoy this one. But as Dan and I have told the A2 don't covert all cartridges but most of them. I like others manuals too but A2 have smth more. just my 0.02 cents.

Sinclair carries the A-Square manual. I just bought one ~six months ago.

It is definitely worth geting ahold of.

I like this manual very much but would not necessarily recommend it as a first reloading manual. The reason I say that is due simply to the cartridge selection. Beyond that, information-wise, I think it's actually a good manual for even a beginner to buy. I know I've shown my manual to other long-time reloaders and they always seem to really like it a lot.

It has some very fundamental pragmatic approaches to a variety of reloading topics.

For example, I've thought from time to time that I would post his wording about muzzle brakes whenever the topic arises at this site. For the most part people do not advocate the use of muzzle brakes at this site so it's never gotten under my skin to that extent. Anyway, he really attaches some solid numbers to his reasons why he doesn't use them. Here here I say!!

You can't go wrong buying this manual, especially if you're into the big bores.

Its not an easy one. There are good points, and good stories, but there�s lots of BS, too.

AA�s bullet weights chosen are not necessarily the best: in .30-06 150 and 180. No 165, no 200. In .450 NE 465 ( his bullets ). Now this weight makes sense, but - as has happened - if one company goes bankrupt, where is the info on the classic 480 grainers or the easily obtainable 500 grs?

His loads are more than consevative, but thats o.k.: for hot climates or Premium bullets.

Exception: his loads for 4350 and 180 grs in �06. This seems to me more than hot!!!

Its a fine manual to add to other manuals. Its a bad first manual. Its good reading.
