PeteDies and lubricant - time for a stripdown?
Mostly I neck size only for reloads into my own rifles. Now and again, I acquire some once-used brass which needs full length sizing first. Having just run 200 .308 shells through a new f/l sizer, I was surprised by the amount of case lubricant which worked its way around the die, including, apparently, up the threads between die and press.
By this morning, I imagine all this stuff's dried hard and will need cleaning off - how often do you f/l sizers strip down your dies for cleaning?

Terry BlauwkampAbout once a year,I tear the dies apart, and clean them with solvent, and polish them out with FLITZ.
Be sure and get the crud off the expander plug and threads.

ricciardelliAfter each use.
Actually I don't tear them down. Put them in an untrasonic cleaner with MEK.

AtkinsonI just use a pistol brush and solvent and run a patch or two through them, every month or so....then dry patches. Keep in mind the lube is a protective and doesn't sit up hard, at least mine doesn't....

500nitroPistol and revolver dies which get used hard, I clean every 6 months, and since I am busy with the chore I do my rifle dies at the same time whether they need it or not.
I usually use Acetone and a nylon brush, followed by clean patches and finish up with a patch slightly damped with Corbins sizing lube.
