rufous300 Win Mag brass quality
I am having my rifle rebarreled to 300 Win Mag and wonder which brass is typically the best between Remington, Winchester and Federal Gold Medal? Which has the greatest case capacity and which the least? Thanks, Rufous.

rufousWhat about RWS brass? Someone on another board suggested that it might be the best. Rufous.

<Don Krakenberger>I like the gold medal. In my 30-06 when I prep the new brass it has virtually no runnout whatsoever--saves me from neck turning. Last batch of win brass I got you couldn't put the primer all the way in without going in with a primer pocket cutter!
By the way if you are interested I made a mistake and ordered a set of lee collet dies in 300 win mag when I intended to order them for my 30-06. They are new, never out of the box. Would sell them for $19 and ship them for $2.00.

375hnhI have done a lot of load developing for my 300 in the last six months or so. my M70 seems to like Winchester brass, I haven't experienced any problems at all with it, either as new or fired. I had no problems with Federal either, but it was all previously fired in my rifle, left over from factory loads.

AtkinsonWW brass is thinner and harder than Federal.
RWS is a very good brass indeed as is Lapua, both are equaL and may just be the best of the best.

AtkinsonFrom time to time I hear that Remington brass is bad stuff...I have not encountered this, I know it is thicker and will not hold as much powder, BUT it will get the same velocity with less powder and thats efficient in anybodys book...It seems to last as long as any other brass....I have used it lately in the 416 Rem as thats about all thats available and I like it....
Mostly however, I use WW and have for half a century...
The only bad brass I have ever experienced is Bertram..It is sometimes very soft.
