333_OKH6.5X55SE Heavyweights 140-160gr
So guys, I like thelong pencil bullets in this caliber and the 6.5X45MS, but which ones?
Hornady 160gr RN
Lapua 155gr Mega Tip
Lapua 140gr Natualis
Norma 156gr Alaska
Norma 156gr Oryx
Norma 156gr Vulkan
The Naturalis is non-lead but still has the length. This is to be used on black-tailed deer, black bear, wild boar, and a few wild steers.
Yes, I am sure I do not want to hype the cartridge up with a 120 grain spitzer. I want to load the cartridge the way it was originally desinged and shot, as was the 6.5X54MS.
Thanks for the help. I would appreciate comments on these different bullets from you guys who have experienced thier performance.

South40I can't describe performance on game, but the Lapua 156 Mega and RE22 give excellent accuracy in my 6.5x55 built on a VZ-24. S40

45ottoFrom the list you have there I have only used the Hornady 160. The hornady 140 SST bullets have done well for me too. Also sierra 160 pro hunter, Nosler, speer 140s work well too. I feel the 120s are too light for woods hunting. The 6.5x55 really comes into its own with 140 and larger. Now when you get into the faster 6.54s its almost silly to use anything lighter than the 140s.

This is my feelings exactly. If I wanted 120gr I would get a 260 Rem ,but I like history and these old cartridges. I think they are all very similar, and they will have similar performance too.

JaywalkerWell, if you're considering 140g bullets, the Nosler Partition is always good. The Barnes TSx 130 is actually a longer bullet than the Nosler 140g Partition, but it isn't a "traditional" choice.

333_OKHI once had some 155 grain semi pointed bullets for my 5.4MS, but I thought they were Barnes. Does anyone know if Barnes still makes them? They were excellent.
