garretttodd260 RUM?
Any body ever think of necking down a 300RUM to .260? If so what are the results. I'm sure somebody has done this.

midminnesotaI would presume that it would be more beneficial to neck down the 7mm STW, the 7mm ultramag is about as overbore I would go with the ultramags.

The .264 Win Mag is already largely overbore.....this is simply more bad medicine.
It's not rocket science ya know!...ya don't have to do it to know how it's going to turn out.....
If you really want a wildcat 6.5 MM then simply neck down a 270 WSM case.....you'll get great performance and shoot as fast as you'll get with a necked down .300 RUM!.....and there will never be a deer that will be able to tell if it was hit with a 6.5 WSM or a .260 Remington!

MickinColoA 300 RUM simply necked down to a .264 diameter bullet would have around 109.5 grains H2O total case capacity. The 264 Winchester Magnum has a capacity of 82 grains. I know of a few 6.5mm wildcats formed from the RUM family but they are much shorter then the 300 RUM.
It’s looks a little goofy.

As a long range specialty rifle with the proper twist, using 175 grain Tungsten or depleted Uranium cores, it might be a great achiever for 700 to 1000 shots.
